Bernard Joseph and Charles N. Hansen correspondence

 Collection — Multiple Containers
Identifier: MSS 5927

Scope and Contents note

This collection consists of correspondence between Charles N. Hansen and Bernard Joseph concerning Christianity in India, 1983-1987.

The correspondence began when Bernard Joseph, an East Indian, met Charles N. Hansen who was serving as a missionary with his wife, Lois, in the Oakland Temple Visitors Center. Through this correspondence, they exchanged books and information concerning Christianity in India. Eventually Mr. Hansen would write to the president of the International Mission at the time, Elder Carlos E. Asay, sending him information he had exchanged with Mr. Joseph. His purpose, as he states in his letter, was “that this effort may in some way add to what you are already doing in India to promote the gospel in that great nation.” Hansen also submitted papers and a copy Joseph’s book ABC of Christianity to the Library Archives Division of the Historical Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
