Scope and Contents

Contains three photographs of the Wootton family, circa 1885-1903. One of the photographs is of Ada and John Wootton. Another photograph is of the San Diego Mission, and has John and Ada pictured, and the final picture is of Wootton and his parents and siblings. The photographs are all labeled on the back.

Biographical History

John Heber Wootton (1865-1951) was a member of the Utah State House of Representatives and the Utah Assistant Attorney General.

John Heber Wootton was born December 5, 1865, to John and Sarah Amelia Wootton. He grew up in American Fork, Utah, and lived there for most of his life. He attended Brigham Young Academy. In 1890, he was asked to teach at the American Fork grade school, and took the job. Wootton married Ada Dilworth Tracy on March 4, 1890. He served on the Utah State House of Representatives and the Utah State Senate. He was admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court in June 1925. In 1928, he was appointed as the Assistant Attorney General under Attorney General Harvey Cluff. Wootton died on April 22, 1951 in American Fork.
