Scope and Contents

Frederick A. Caine collected these five photographs during his mission to Japan for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints circa 1902-1904. Three of the photographs are other missionaries in the field, two of the photographs presumably depict members of the church in Japan. Interpretation of the Japanese characters on the photographs indicates that these are collected by (or given to) Frederick A. Caine during his time as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Japan.

Biographical History

Frederick A Caine was born March 24, 1884 in Coalville, Utah. His parents were Alfred H. Caine and Margaret A. Mitchell. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, circa 1902-1904.

Frederick married Esther H. Howe on June 4, 1912. He died August 14, 1929 in Idaho Falls and was buried in Salt Lake City.
