Scope and Contents
Photocopy of holograph letter written to "Jerome" and dated 16 April 1865. Webster tells about standing "picket;" the weather in Virginia; rumors relating to the assassination of President Lincoln; actions taken by his command to apprehend Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth; and reports relating to the disintegration of Confederate resistance during the last weeks of the Civil War.
