Broken radio / Kristen Cook

Dates: 1986

Report by Brigham Young University folklore student Kristen Cook, who heard this story from a female acquaintance three years before recording. In the story a father stays home while his family attends an Mormon Sunday School. He turns on the radio and hears a Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcast with a message that strikes home. When his family comes home, he learns the radio is broken. They all join the church.
