John Crook papers

Dates: 1851-1902

Handwritten diaries, newspaper clippings, genealogies, correspondence, and patriarchal blessings. The journals contain extensive and detailed autobiographical accounts of Crook's experiences as a young convert to the Mormon Church in England, his emigration to the United States in 1851 on board a sailing ship (the Ellen) which was involved in a sea-going collision, his journey across the plains to Utah, his settling in Heber Valley of Utah, his experiences in the Utah War of 1857-1858, and his many Mormon Church related activities.
