Scope and Contents

Diary written by Huntington between 1884 and 1887. Entries describe his Church service, work with beekeeping, his efforts to secure the Latter-day Saint cemetery in Mount Pigsah, Iowa, and his family life. Includes descriptions of his service in the Logan Temple. Also describes the effects of anti-polygamy legislation on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its members. Includes references to Joseph Smith, John Taylor, Lorenzo Snow, Philo Dibble, Lorenzo Snow, and the Cane Creek massacre.

General

Cover made of thick reddish-brown cardboard with binding of green tape. The cover is printed with a design and the word "Memorandum" at the center, with the words "16th Book" handwritten in ink at the top of the diary. Pages are made of thick white, blue-lined paper with pink lines at each margin. The outside edge of each page is colored pink. Four unnumbered pages followed by 190 numbered pages followed by two unnumbered pages. Page numbers written in ink and in pencil (ink until page 120, pencil from then on).
