E. Dale LeBaron oral history project on Africa

Dates: 1988-1993

Collection contains recordings and transcriptions of interviews conducted by E. Dale LeBaron with black men and women who have converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in various countries of Africa. The items were transcribed by the College of Religious Instruction at Brigham Young University. Back-up copies of the transcriptions are included on floppy disks. The collection dates from 1988-1993.

Biographical History

E. Dale LeBaron is a Canadian native who served as the mission president in the South African Johannesburg mission and was a professor of Church History at Brigham Young University.

E. Dale LeBaron was born in Barnwell, Alberta, Canada. He served as the South African Johannesburg Mission President during the 1970s. He has written and spoken widely on the Latter-day Saint Church in Africa. He was professor of Church History at Brigham Young University before returning to Africa to collect oral histories of the early converts to the Church in Africa.
