Collection contains Spring Canyon Coal Co. correspondence and papers relating to labor relations, compensation, mine rescue, income and operational expenses, housing, railroads, and welfare, chiefly during the 1920s. Also included are annual reports (1920-1933), minute books, and ledgers of King Coal, a west coast distributor of Spring Canyon coals; records relating to the I.W.W. in Carbon County, Utah; and records of the related Royal Coal Company, Standard Coal Company, and the Knight Fuel Company.

Administrative History
The Spring Canyon Coal Co. was established in 1912 by Jesse Knight. One of a number of mining camps based in Spring Canyon, Utah in the early 20th century, coal mining began that same year. Mining operations ceased in 1954, and the mine closed in 1970.
