 Collection — Multiple Containers
Identifier: MSS 3059

Scope and Contents

Typescript of an interview conducted by Stan Burnett on 31 Jan. 1985. Also included is the audiotape from which the item was transcribed. Farnworth talks about his experiences in World War I and about being shipped to France where he worked in the city of Brest. He was there when the war ended guarding German prisoners. When the Germans heard that the war was over, "they threw their mess kits in the air and they threw their hats in the air. Then they began to dance. They were tickled because the war was over. They didn't want to kill us any more than we wanted to kill them. It was nice. It was a good experience." Farnworth also talks about his activities when he was still in France after the war. He also tells about his feelings on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
