Collection contains two scrapbooks of John Hess, dated 2000-2003, documenting Elder Hess' experiences as a senior missionary in Belarus for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are also papers of his father, Horace Eugene Hess, circa 1930-1933. These include missionary correspondence, scrapbooks, and photographs of Eugene Hess from his mission in Tahiti for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Also includes one scrapbook of photographs from the Tahiti mission and other photographs.

Biographical History
John Richard Hess (b. 1938) was a Mormon missionary in Belarus.
John Richard Hess was born on October 7, 1938 in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Horace Eugene Hess. He married Shirley Ann Downard on December 28, 1961 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Hess later served a mission in Belarus, circa 2000-2003, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Biographical History
Horace Eugene Hess (1910-1985) was a Mormon missionary in Tahiti.
Horace Eugene Hess was born on August 21, 1910 in Ashton, Idaho to Horace Arnold and Linnie Mildred Smith Hess. He served a mission in Tahiti for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, circa 1930–1933. Hess married Emma Porter on October 4, 1934 in Idaho. They had five children. He died on April 28, 1985 in Ashton, Idaho.
