Emily Lydia Snyder Thompson writes about her immigration to Utah in 1848, her father taking the family to California in 1850, her father starting a boarding house, a flood, being threatened by Indians, food shortages, following Brigham Young's counsel and abandoning her home in 1858, her husband's call to go to Sanpete in 1866, the Black Hawk War and other topics.

Biographical/Historical note

Emily Lydia Snyder Thompson is the daughter of George Gideon Snyder and Sarah Wilder Hatch Snyder. She was born in Nauvoo, Illinois on January 27 1846 and died in Scipio, Utah on December 12, 1928. She married Orvil Browning Thompson, son of William "G" Thompson and Elizabeth McAulay.
