Scope and Contents

Collection includes two compact discs with sound recordings made by Ernest B. Schoedsack during the 1960s. Includes a narration of the wreck of the schooner Wisdom II by Schoedsack, and a recorded letter to a Mr. Turner in Texas. The letter has several narrative voices in addition to Schoedsack, including Ruth Rose and Robert Armstrong. Dated approximately 1960s.

Biographical history

Ernest B. Schoedsack was born June 8, 1893. He became a cameraman in 1914, and continued working as a cameraman throughout World War I, during which he also worked with the American Red Cross to liberate refugees. He began collaborating with Merian C. Cooper in 1925 on the documentary Grass and then on Chang two years later. Their best-known joint-venture was the 1933 acclaimed film King Kong. He actively worked on producing, directing and shooting films from 1924 to 1952. Schoedsack died December 23, 1979.
