The Mary Celestia Chipman letters and photographs contain 61 letters written to Mary Celestia (also known as Lettie) Chipman by her sisters and boyfriends. There are several letters that are invitations to social events. The letters document many social and town events, such as balls, parties, births, deaths, weddings, etc. Occasionally, there is a letter written to someone other than Lettie. The collection also includes two photographs and three calling cards.

Biographical History

Mary Celestia Chipman was born 1 April 1864 to Washburn Chipman and Margaret Vance MC Nickols in American Fork, Utah. The letters in this collection were written to Lettie while she was not living at home, but was living somewhere else in Utah. She died 27 December 1951 in American Fork, Utah.
