Alfred A. Kofoed mission journals

Alfred A. Kofoed mission journals

Dates: 1895-1897

Collection contains photocopies of journals from Alfred A. Kofoed's mission to the "Friendly Islands" (Tonga). Towards the end of his mission, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints closed the Tonga mission (it was reopened in 1907). This event, along with the the daily life of a turn of the century Latter-day Saint missionary, is documented within Kofoed's journals. There are also a few entries given after he returned from his mission. The collection also contains photocopied photographs both acquired by and taken by Kofoed on his mission. The original journals and photographs are maintained by Steven Kofoed, grandson of Alfred A. Kofoed.
