Scrapbooks contain a personal history of Elwood Mortensen Haynie, photographs, letters, newsletters, genealogical materials, some handwritten music, journal entries, and certificates. It also contains missionary letters, journals and newsletters. The scrapbooks document his life beginning with Elwood's childhood, based on the memories of Elwood, his mother, his sisters, and others who knew him, and continues up until his death in 1983.

Biographical History
Elwood Mortensen Haynie (1917-1983) was an attorney in Colorado.
Elwood Mortensen Haynie was born 20 July 1917, to Leonard and Hazel Haynie in Manassa, Colorado. In 1935, he attended University of Utah. In 1938, he left his schooling to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the New England. Elwood joined the Army in 1940, and served for four and a half years. He married Frances Graham Elmore on 28 April 1944. Frances and Elwood adopted a son in 1949, and a daughter in 1954. In the late 1970s, Elwood became excited about his family history and began researching his genealogy. He died on 11 December 1983 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
