Clinton Larson post-war correspondence

Clinton Larson post-war correspondence

Dates: June 1919-1940

One (1) carton containing correspondence between Clinton Larson and Lillian Foster Larson, with a small amount of correspondence from various authors, including family members and friends of the Lillian and Clinton. In June and July of 1919, Clinton traveled to Europe to compete in the inter-allied games. The letters from those months describe tourist sights of France and Great Britain, war zones including burned villages, the trenches of French battle fields, underground cities built for protection, and the competition at the inter-allied games in the high jump (Pershing Stadium, Paris, France). The correspondence dating in the fall of 1919 describes Clinton’s teaching and coaching job at Duchesne County High School in Roosevelt, Utah, and the birth of the couple’s son, Clinton Foster Larson. Correspondence from the summer of 1921 includes Clinton’s work at the Nevada School of Industry in Elko, Nevada, and Lillian’s life back home in American Fork with the baby. They discuss financial issues, upcoming athletic opportunities, and Clinton’s search for future jobs. Very few letters date after 1921, and they describe a smattering of events until 1940, some athletic-related.
