Biographical History

Michael Feinstein (born 1956) is an American singer, pianist, and music revivalist.

Michael Feinstein was born in 1956 to Edward Feinstein and Florence Mazie. He began his music career at age five, when he began learning the piano. Since then, Feinstein has worked with noted musicians such as Ira Gershwin, Burton Lane, Jule Styne, and many others. He sings, plays the piano, and records records with such musicians, preserving the music of other composers while creating his own.

Feinstein also collects sound recordings of vocalists, pianists, and motion picture soundtracks. His project, Great American Songbook Initiative, collects music from many American composers and educates young people about the power of music.
