Biographical History

William Andrews Sr. (1818-1902) was a Mormon pioneer from England who, with his family, immigrated to the United States and settled in Nephi, Utah.

William Andrews was born May 12, 1818 in Leicestershire, England, the illigitamate son of Mary Andrews. He married Ann Wright in Packington, England on September 16, 1839. They had six children but only four survived past childhood. The Andrews family was Baptist before they converted to Mormonism, having been taught by Mormon elders from Utah. They left England for Utah in 1860 on a journey that lasted about four months. They arrived in Nephi, Utah on September 16, 1860, where they settled in a small adobe house and established a farm. Three of their four children married. Ann died on May 9, 1897 at age 75, leaving William a widower until his death on January 23, 1902 at age 84. They are buried in the Nephi City Cemetery.
