Biographical History
Ann Agatha Walker Pratt (1829-1908) was a Mormon pioneer, mother, and milliner.
Ann Agatha Walker Pratt was born on June 11, 1829 in Leek, England to parents William Gibson and Mary Godwin Walker. At the age of 14 she and her family were baptized into the Mormon church. Three years later, in 1847, she immigrated to America with a group led by apostles Parley P. Pratt and John Taylor.
She eventually married Parley P. Pratt in Winter Quarters, Nebraska while traveling to Utah. Together they had five children. She arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah in September of 1847. Here, she worked as a milliner, making hats for the people in the valley. In 1857 she was widowed when Parley was murdered while traveling through Arkansas.
She married Joseph Harris Ridges on March 4, 1860 and together they had two children. Six years following their marriage they separated.
Pratt devoted her life to the church and served in the Relief Society. She passed away on June 25, 1908 in Ogden, Utah.
