Biographical / Historical

John A. Conde (1918-2008) was an automotive historian and a founding member and director of the Society of Automotive historians.

John A. Conde was born on March 25, 1918 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a founding member and a director of the Society of Automotive Historians, a longtime member of the Board of Trustees of the National Automotive History Collection of the Detroit Public Library and an active member of many of the car hobby clubs in the United States. He was also the curator of transportation at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn and served 32 years as the public relations director at American Motors creating one of the most complete corporate archives in the industry, during which time he worked closely with George W. Romney, who was later elected as governor of Michigan. Conde's experience in these positions led him to publish his first book, "The Cars that Hudson Built."

Conde passed away on August 29, 2008 in Michigan.
