Collection contains materials pertaining to the life of Rulon C. Allred. Included are typed and handwritten journal entries and letters, handwritten financial records, and a copy of his handwritten autobiography. A typed scrapbook made by his daughter Rhoda is also included. His religious materials include a book with records of work Allred did for the dead in Mesa, Arizona. Also included are Allred family recordings on compact discs. Dated circa 1930-1986.

Biographical note

Rulon C. Allred (1906-1977) was a homeopathic physician and chiropractor and the president of the Priesthood of the Apostolic United Brethren in Utah, Idaho and Arizona.

Rulon Clark Allred was born on March 29, 1906 to Byron Harvey Allred and Mary Evelyn Clark in Chihuahua, Old Mexico. After having a vision while in his twenties, he decided to have multiple wives and became estranged from his first wife. At the time of his death he had at least twelve wives and forty-eight children. In the Apostolic United Brethren, Allred's polygamous community in Short Creek, Arizona, he gradually assumed responsibility and ended up being their leader from 1954 to 1977. While living in Arizona Allred was imprisoned for bigamy in 1953. On May 10, 1977, Allred was shot and killed by two women from a rival polygamous sect headed by Ervil LeBaron.

Rhoda J. Allred (born 1943) was a polygamous wife in Utah.

Rhoda J. Allred is the daughter of Rulon C. Allred, and was born on April 21, 1943. She graduated from high school in Pocatello, Idaho. Allred married Lynn Anderson Thompson. They had ten children together and then divorced in 2005 and she returned to using her maiden name. In 1980, Allred was a library aide in the Jordan School District.

Biographical note

Sharon Allred Jessop (born 1942) is a teacher and phrenologist in Pinesdale, Montana.

Sharon Allred Jessop is the daughter of Rulon C. Allred, and was born in 1942. Jessop attended high school in Idaho. She married Marvin Jessop and had thirteen children. She was a part-time teacher at Pines Academy. Jessop currently lives in Pinesdale, Montana.
