Biographical History
Ann Evans Francis Howells (1833-1874) was a Mormon convert from Wales.
Ann Evans Francis was born on May 26, 1833, to Benjamin and Margaret Francis in Newcwrt, South Wales. She was baptized at age 14, and left Wales just over one year later, in 1849, to go to Utah. She left with her parents and three siblings, but only she and her mother made it there. Ann entered the Salt Lake Valley in 1852, and was married to Thomas Howells in 1853. She bore thirteen children, and provided for them almost single-handedly while Thomas served a mission. She died on May 30, 1874, in Salt Lake City, presumably of tuberculosis.
