ALS's from Reckmeyer to Le Roy Hafen discussing the Indian battle of Summit Springs, Colorado (1869) and the roles played by Major Frank J. North, Brevet Major Eugene A. Carr, and Travelling Bear, A Pawnee scout. Also includes handwritten copies (carbon copies) of portions of North's diary, 1869, and an 1870 joint resolution of the Nebraska State Legislature honoring North and Carr. Also includes a photograph of Major North as well as a September 9, 1928 newsclipping from the Omaha World-Herald discussing the placing of an historic marker on the mission site of the First Presbyterian mission in Nebraska.
